MARCH 16-28: DONATE AN INSTRUMENT TO BRINGING MUSIC TO LIFE

Since CPR launched the instrument drive in 2009, nearly 2,000 musical instruments have gone to more than 100 Colorado schools and music programs. The instrument drive continues in 2015 with the new non-profit Bringing Music to Life leading the effort and CPR serving as primary promotional partner. In this new role, CPR remains committed to sharing the power of music with children to build the next generation of Colorado musicians.

If you have an instrument in good condition, bring it to one of 17 donation locations during the Bringing Music to Life instrument drive, March 16-28.

SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON CHILD POVERTY IN COLORADO

Nearly half of Colorado’s public school students live in low-income households, according to a report in a recent CPR News story, which is part of ongoing coverage of child poverty in Colorado. Other stories include those of individuals and families struggling financially—like Denver teenager Luis Robles.

Through CPR’s Public Insight Network, you have an opportunity to share your experiences and ideas to inform CPR News reporting on this and other issues.

OPEN AIR HEADS SOUTH FOR COLORADO MUSIC PARTY

For the third year running, Colorado music will take the stage alongside the South by Southwest Music Conference and Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, at the Colorado Music Party, March 17-21. OpenAir is a media partner for the party, and hosts will travel to Austin to connect with musicians and build awareness for Colorado music.

Presented by Colorado Creative Industries, the Colorado Tourism Office and SpokesBUZZ, the Colorado Music Party is expanding this year to showcase more than 120 bands with Colorado connections. Colorado artists on the schedule include The Yawpers, Bonnie & the Beard and Wheelchair Sports Camp—all of whom have recorded sessions with OpenAir in the CPR Performance Studio.
